Within ‘The Weight of Shadows’ there is a moment that a few people have asked me about. DI Wallace has her first meeting with Benedict and during this he is thinking and makes a statement:
“In a universe filled with the unexplained and chaos our simple brains still want everything to be measurable; man makes it work with either faith or luck.”
During their conversation in relation to ‘luck’, it appears that Benedict is ‘quoting’ someone. He in fact is quoting himself. This is an extract from an essay he’d written during university.
At some point in the future I may discuss this quote further, which provides an insight into Benedict’s mind.
